  Taking Action and Leading with Confidence – Earthquake Learning in Action This week in Unit 4, How the World Works , our Grade 3 learners continued their inquiry into earthquakes with a strong focus on responsibility, preparedness, and taking meaningful action. We began by deepening our understanding of safe and unsafe actions during an earthquake . Through a sorting activity and reflective discussions, students analysed different behaviors and evaluated which actions reduce risk and which could increase danger. This helped them think critically and apply their knowledge to real-life situations.   Grade 3 Weekly Blog – Learning How the World Works This week in Grade 3, we continued exploring our Unit of Inquiry “How the World Works” with a focus on earthquakes and how societies prepare for natural disasters . The students showed great curiosity, responsibility, and teamwork throughout our learning. Unit of Inquiry – Understanding Earthquakes We began by creating posters explaining how an earthquake happens . Students worked collaboratively to illustrate and describe the process, then confidently presented their findings to the class. It was wonderful to see them developing both their research and communication skills. Afterwards, we discussed the importance of being prepared. Together, we designed an emergency kit , with each student drawing and explaining why specific items are necessary in case of an earthquake.   Grade 3 Weekly Blog - Beginning Our New Unit: How the World Works This week, Grade 3 started an exciting new Unit of Inquiry: How the World Works . Our central idea is “Societies prepare for natural disasters.” The students showed great curiosity and engagement right from the beginning. Unit of Inquiry - Learning About Earthquakes To introduce the unit, the students listened to a story about an earthquake in Luma . After the read-aloud, they shared their thoughts, feelings, and ideas, and we collected questions and key points together as a class. Over the past days, students worked with great commitment and enthusiasm to prepare their performances. They practiced their lines again and again, gathered the necessary accessories, supported one another during rehearsals, and gave thoughtful feedback to other groups. Many students helped their peers remember lines, suggested improvements, and encouraged each other to speak clearly and confidently. It was wonderful to see such strong teamwork and cooperation. This week in Grade 3 was full of learning, creativity, and focus across different subjects. Unit of Inquiry – Getting Ready for Our Assembly In our Unit of Inquiry, we worked hard to prepare for our upcoming assembly . Students developed their roles, wrote dialogues, and discussed how to present their ideas clearly and confidently. Groups who finished early were already able to start their first rehearsals. It was great to see how well the students worked together, supported one another, and took responsibility for their tasks.
