Grade 3 Weekly Highlights – A Week of Focus and Creativity
This week, our Grade 3 students were engaged in a wide range of learning experiences that encouraged creativity, cooperation, and concentration across the curriculum.
Unit of Inquiry – Preparing for the Assembly
As part of our Unit of Inquiry, students dedicated time to preparing for the upcoming assembly. They worked on defining their roles, creating dialogues, and thinking carefully about how to share their ideas in a clear and confident way. Some groups were even able to begin early rehearsals. It was wonderful to observe the strong teamwork, mutual support, and sense of responsibility shown throughout the process.
Mathematics – Exploring Fractions
In Mathematics, we began our learning journey with fractions. Students investigated how fractions represent equal parts of a whole and used practical activities to build understanding. Through discussion and hands-on tasks, they practised identifying simple fractions and explaining their thinking to classmates.
Language / English – Poetry and Creative Expression
In Language lessons, students engaged with a poem by first listening carefully and then reading it aloud together. A variety of follow-up activities supported deeper understanding of the poem’s meaning and language. Building on this, students wrote their own poems about colours, using imaginative language and personal ideas to express themselves creatively.
Assessments
This week also included Reading assessments. Students approached these tasks with concentration and confidence, aiming to demonstrate their learning and progress.
Overall, it was a productive and rewarding week. We are proud of the effort our students put into their learning and look forward to continuing our journey together.
