Grade 3 - Our First Days of School
The first two days we have been busy getting to know each other and building a happy classroom community.
We started the week with reading time. Everyone enjoyed choosing a book and finding a comfortable place to read.
Then, we created our own “All About Me” pages. We wrote our names, ages, favorite colors, animals, and things we like to do. We also shared what we hope to learn this year. This was a great way to introduce ourselves and learn more about our classmates.
Together, we talked about what makes a happy classroom. We discussed questions like: What helps us feel safe and happy in class? and What should we do if we disagree? From these ideas, we made our Class Agreement, inspired by the IB Learner Profiles. Everyone signed it to show that we are committed to working together kindly and respectfully.
We also read a special story called The Name Jar. It is about a girl whose classmates had trouble pronouncing her name. The story helped us think about respect, identity, and kindness. After reading, we worked in groups to answer questions and share our thoughts.
Finally, we talked about our summer memories. Each student wrote and drew about something they enjoyed during the holidays. Now our classroom is filled with colorful memories and personal stories.
It has been a wonderful start to Grade 3, and we are excited for all the learning and fun ahead!
