Grade 3 Weekly Reflection – Thinking, Researching, and Taking Action πŸ’§πŸŒΏ

This week, Grade 3 continued to explore our Unit of Inquiry, “Sharing the Planet,” by thinking deeply about how humans interact with the environment. Our young Thinkers have shown curiosity, reflection, and creativity as they expanded their understanding of natural resources and how they are used around the world.

We started the week by reviewing the water cycle, creating beautiful and detailed illustrations that showed how water moves through our planet. The students demonstrated strong research and thinking skills as they labeled each stage and explained the process in their own words.

Later, we watched an informative video about gemstone mining. Inspired by what they learned, the students created their own quizzes for their classmates — a fun and interactive way to review key ideas and practice their communication and collaboration skills.

We also compared images of a healthy forest and a deforested area, reflecting on the visible changes and their causes. This led to group discussions and the creation of posters and collages about Deforestation – Meaning, Causes, Effects, and Solutions. The students showed empathy and responsibility as they brainstormed possible ways people can take action to protect forests. Many even created small books on the topic, which are now available for everyone in the class to read and enjoy — a wonderful example of student agency in action.

In Mathematics, we completed our unit on Time and Timetables and began exploring Addition and Subtraction strategies, including equations with missing numbers. Students practiced being balanced learners, combining logical reasoning with creativity as they solved different challenges.

In English, our focus was on direct speech. The students practiced identifying and using quotation marks correctly, while writing their own dialogues to make stories come alive.

It has been a week full of thoughtful inquiry, creativity, and collaboration. Grade 3 continues to grow as balanced and curious learners, always eager to ask questions, explore new ideas, and take meaningful action. πŸŒπŸ’✨
