Grade 3 – Our Week of Learning and Celebration This week in Grade 3 was full of action, inquiry, and reflection. We began with a very special visit from a physiotherapist , who guided us through different exercises to strengthen our body awareness. From jumping to climbing and even trying out cartwheels, the children were active, engaged, and had a wonderful time. It was a great reminder of how movement helps us to be balanced and healthy learners. In our Unit of Inquiry , we continued exploring the human body. The students showed they are inquirers and thinkers through many activities: They completed an online quiz about the digestive and respiratory systems, supported by a video. In a breathing experiment , they compared their breathing and heartbeat in three different trials: sitting quietly, after running, and back at rest. We read the story Ruby the Red Blood Cell and drew Ruby’s journey through the circulatory system. Each student wrote three sentences to explain h...

Grade 3 – Our Week of Inquiry and Learning This week in Grade 3, our Unit of Inquiry focused on the respiratory system . The students were true inquirers as they explored how breathing works and why it is so important for our bodies. We began with a practical exercise where the children observed their breathing at rest and then compared it to their breathing and heartbeat after jogging on the spot. This led to a thoughtful class discussion about the changes they noticed. Each student also researched and shared one key fact about the respiratory system with the class. Throughout the week, we used different strategies to deepen our understanding. We worked on a matching worksheet to connect organ names with the respiratory system, and drew the breathing path while labeling the body parts involved. Using pictures, the students showed the way of the air through the body and answered a fun yes/no questionnaire to test their knowledge. In groups, they created posters about The Journey of th...

Grade 3 – Our Week of Learning This week in Grade 3 we explored, asked questions, and learned in many different ways. In our UOI, we reviewed the digestive system . We drew and labeled it in our notebooks and wrote a short sentence for each part to show its job. We also started learning about the respiratory system . For our first inquiry, we did a small experiment: the students observed their breathing while sitting still, and then compared it to their breathing and heartbeat after jogging on the spot for 30 seconds. We discussed what changed and why. We also played a fun quiz game, watched a Dr. Binocs video, and learned new vocabulary about the respiratory system. To finish, students wrote their own story called “The Journey of the Air” and proudly read them aloud to the class. A very special highlight this week was our first lesson with the VR headsets . The children were excited and engaged, and it gave them a new way to explore and understand their learning. In Math , we pr...

Grade 3 – Highlights from Our Week This week in Grade 3 we have been working hard and learning many new things! In our UOI, we created group posters about different body systems: the digestive system , the circulatory system , and the musculoskeletal system . Each group presented their poster to the class, and we added new questions to our Wonder Wall that we will explore in the coming weeks. We also reviewed the digestive system by drawing it again and discussing how the organs work together. In English, we began our new unit about the Ancient Egyptians . We built our first set of vocabulary words, looked them up in the dictionary, practiced their pronunciation, explained the words in our own way, and finally used them in sentences. In Math, we continued to practice numbers and sequences . We also had fun solving problems online using a learning program. This week we also had our Library Lesson , and we were happy to welcome a very kind intern from Germany who is studying to bec...
