Celebrating Well-Being, Inquiry, and Creativity in Grade 3 This week was an exciting and memorable one for our Grade 3 learners! On Monday, we enjoyed our annual Sports Day , followed by Cross Country with Upper Primary in the afternoon. The perfect weather, the joyful atmosphere, and the incredible enthusiasm of the students made both events truly special. Our learners demonstrated perseverance, teamwork, and a strong sense of being balanced . A big thank you to all parents for your wonderful support and active involvement throughout the day! As we wrapped up our Unit of Inquiry, we explored different types of renewable and non-renewable energy . Using their research and thinking skills , the students worked in pairs to create informative posters. They organized their information, illustrated key concepts, and confidently presented their findings to the class. This was a great opportunity for them to show how they have grown as knowledgeable and communicative learners throughout t...

Grade 3 Weekly Learning Journey – Sharing the Planet This week, our Grade 3 learners continued to inquire deeply into our Unit of Inquiry Sharing the Planet , with a special focus on the central idea of how human choices impact the environment and shared resources. In UOI, we began with a research task exploring “What is energy?” Students activated their prior knowledge and extended their understanding using a variety of sources. With growing confidence as Researchers and Thinkers , they then engaged in a schoolwide investigation: How does our school use energy? Learners walked through the school building, observing carefully and taking notes. They analysed their findings and collaboratively sorted them into three meaningful categories: Good Use Wasteful Use Ideas for Improvement This encouraged students to think critically about sustainable choices and to reflect on what it means to be Balanced community members who take responsibility for shared resources. Their discuss...

Grade 3 Weekly Reflection – Inquiring How We Share and Protect Water 💧🌍 This week in Grade 3, we continued our Unit of Inquiry “Sharing the Planet” with a strong focus on water as a precious global resource. Our young inquirers demonstrated excellent research , thinking , and communication skills as they explored how people around the world access, protect, and use clean water. We began the week by presenting our “My Clean Water Machine” designs. Each student created their own invention to help people access clean water, describing how it works and how it supports communities. The presentations were thoughtful and imaginative — a wonderful example of how Grade 3 students take agency and apply their learning creatively. Next, students reflected on real-life action by asking: “How can I save water?” Each child selected one daily action — such as taking shorter showers, turning off the tap while brushing teeth, or reusing water when possible. They have committed to doing this actio...

This week, Grade 3 continued to explore our Unit of Inquiry “Sharing the Planet” , focusing on responsible water use and how people can take action to ensure everyone has access to clean water. On Monday, during our Open Day , we proudly presented our Panel Discussion to our parents. Students worked collaboratively in their groups to review and share their information about water use, based on their chosen roles — such as city mayor, farmer or fisherman, factory owner or environmentalist, and family members . With great confidence and communication skills, each group performed their panel in front of the class and parents, sharing their ideas on how to use and protect water resources responsibly. It was a wonderful display of critical thinking, teamwork, and communication skills — true PYP learners in action! Following this, several questions appeared on our Wonder Wall about where our water comes from and how it becomes clean and safe to drink. To inquire further, we watched an ...
